There are countless millions of options in the game so testing what you like before pigeonholing yourself into one way or no way (the typical linear mindset of lesser games in the genre) is the key to maximum enjoyment in the game. Any class, any race, any role – the choice is yours.
The ONLY difference is YOUR playstyle and how YOU build it. Instead, every single class in the game can play every single role. Unlike traditional MMORPGs, The Elder Scrolls Online does NOT restrict you to a specific role per class. However, the choices for creating a character are endless. There are three traditional roles in ESO which include a tank, a healer, and a damage dealer. These skills vary in visual style, application, and the effects seen during combat or in-game mechanics. Each of these classes has THREE individual skill lines that make it unique from the rest. You can be a Dragonknight, Templar, Nightblade, Sorcerer, Warden, or Necromancer. There are SIX classes in The Elder Scrolls Online from which to choose.
